Didcot is a town and civil parish located approximately 10 miles south of Oxford. It was originally in Berkshire until 1974 when the boundaries changed moving it into Oxfordshire.

Didcot is well known for The Great Western Railway which reached Didcot in 1839 and has been servicing commuters ever since. You are able to reach London Paddington within 45 minutes making Didcot an ideal location for all city workers.

The town is a gateway for three large Science, Technology and Business Centres in the surrounding villages; Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, Milton Park and Culham Science Centre.

In 2015 Didcot was given Garden Town status by the government. The town will be able to provide affordable homes, schools and jobs whilst preserving the countryside around Didcot and a comfortable way of life. The local council will encourage new housing and business developments to include more green spaces, trees, gardens, allotments, walking and cycle ways in their plans for the town.

Didcot is already benefiting from this investment and putting it back into local amenities and the infrastructure. The country’s first UTC is based on Great Western Park and opened its doors for the start of the school year in September 2015, providing high quality education children between 14 and 19 with a focus on science and technology. This is a welcome addition to the towns existing primary and secondary schools, including Didcot Girls’ School, which was rated as outstanding in its latest Ofsted report.

The Orchard Centre which comprises of a Sainsburys supermarket, Cineworld, restaurants, retail shops and an art centre is due to have a further £50 million expansion this will include a Marks and Spencer’s food hall, a gym, further restaurants and shops. Work begins July 2016.
