Situated at the eastern end of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Stanford Dingley is one of the prettiest rural villages in West Berkshire. It is blessed with stunning walks, home to two thriving pubs, a diverse and active farming community and an historic and important Norman church, St Denrys. There is an active events group and an historic village hall (refurbished in 2017) and village field facilitates a varied calendar of activities.
Stanford was the stony ford across the River Pang and the village is listed in the Domesday survey of 1086. Today the village has many 17th and 18th Century houses. Notable are the two pubs. The Boot Inn, an 18th Century pub is famous, these days as the former local of the The Duchess of Cambridge. The Bull is more historically interesting, being an old coaching inn dating from the 15th Century where you can still partake of the ancient game of Ring of the Bull.
The village is also accessible being about 10 minutes drive from M4 J12 and 20 minutes from M4 J13/A34.
