About Abingdon

As one of the oldest towns in the UK, Abingdon is steeped in history. Its most famous landmark, the Abbey, was founded in Saxon times and was once used by William the Conqueror whose son was educated there.

More recently the town has played host to a number of multinational companies, with many based in the towns business and science parks. With this and the proximity to academic institutions in Oxford, Abingdon has seen a dramatic increase in young professionals and families taking residence.

Where is it

Abingdon is approximately 6 miles from the city of Oxford and 5 miles from Milton Business Park on the outskirts of Didcot. Major routes in to the Town include the M4 and M40 motorways both of which are accessed via the A34.

Train Station

Radley station provides access to Oxford city with a journey time of just ten minutes. For those considering a commute to London, the average journey time is just over an hour.

Shopping

Abingdon has a wealth of high street shops ranging from butchers to jewellers as well as a Waitrose, Tesco and many other well known convenience stores.

The White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre is located on Audlett Drive, just a short walk from the town centre. Nearby there is a soft play centre for little ones and Tilsley Park Athletic Centre.

The town has many pubs and restaurants including an ASK and Pizza Express . The River Thames and Abbey Meadow is only a short walk from the town centre and makes for a great family day out with its outdoor swimming pools, pitch and putt, crazy golf, tennis and fishing facilities.
